This past weekend was filled with a great balance of relaxation and the hustle and bustle of city life. Thursday started our weekend.. which we began with September date night. Around the World with a Year of Dates, aka a date night each month, each inspired by a different country. September was France.. so a spread of gourmet cheeses, wine, and macarons was the perfect date night in. Friday we went to my first Chicago wedding.
This wedding was, by far, the best and most beautiful wedding I have ever been to. The ceremony… was gorgeous. The reception… was gorgeous. The bride… was gorgeous. There are some couples who just resonate love and happiness. This couple was one of them. Whether you knew them personally or not, you knew they were in love and you could feel it the entire night. Along with a five course (soup, salad, pasta, steak and chicken, and desert) meal, an open bar, a martini bar, a champagne bar, and an MC who sang Dean Martin’s That’s Amore while we all held hands, stood on our chairs, and sang long… you would have thought it was a scene from a movie. I could have cried 98326 times, but I kept it together.
Saturday was spent lounging and snacking at home during the day, trying out new recipes in the cast iron skillet, and napping… lots of napping to recoup from the night before. The evening commenced with a train ride into the city, drinks, friends and laughs, and a cocktail at the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor.
Sunday was coffee with new friends before their trip back to Ohio followed by the completion (finally) of Greys Anatomy.
All in all, the weekend was just was this girl needed.
Cheers to a new week!
